St. Barnabus Grade 10 MAD Project

So Eudice, Natalie and I have decided to help out with St. Barnabus as our MAD project this year. Most of us have been there for at least two times together to help out as somewhat waitresses and served  the St. Barnabus people food. It was during that time where we got to interact and get to know more about those people. We also did some chores of sweeping and mopping the floor. We got the priviledge to being able to worship with the people and see their joyful, smiling faces seeming to show that they were drastically changed by the love of God even if they are the less fortunate of the society. We also got involved in "teaching" them how to write the chinese with the blacked inked brush on the . But our roles were pretty much switched as they were really the ones who taught us. They were really good at it and made fabulous "fa chun"s! In our latest help out, we served them late afternoon tea time snack and taught and assisted them in making a swam with beads. They all turned out to be beautiful and we had a wonderful time with them!(:

Unfortunately, we weren't able to take photos for every help out but here are just a few pictures of me during our first help out:

Another picture of me serving them food

Being able to serve the people of St. Barnabus was really a priviledge for me. I learnt so much about life through their optimism and joyfulness. I learnt how we should not drown in our guilt or depression in life but enjoy the most you can in life, that even if you have nothing or very little necessities or goods in life, our attitudes should not turn to pessimism but to think of the bright side of things. Through my interactions with the people, I got to experience how God changed their lifes, how they are touched by God's love as they grin widely and laugh at and be grateful for even the smallest things in life. This project turned out to be very succesful and one that I learnt a lot from. I enjoyed every minute of it!

April 9th, 2011!: St. Barnabus Flag Day! YAYY(:

I had a Blast that day too! Even though I had to wake up really early in the morning because i live far away from central and that i gulped so many breathes of smoke>< unfortunately, it was an experience that was completely worth it as I enjoyed myself to selling flags to help the needy!
I hope I would be able to give more to the society and to people who needs help. Thank you for giving me these opportunities! I enjoyed every minute of it!<3(:

 Our "selling flag" group(:
WEEE;P

Me urging the man to buy a flag(: hehe.
I sold a total of 6 pages!(:

I LOVED every service I've done so far.
I had a kind of comfort and satisfaction after each one i've finished, especially after finishing the flag days.I can definitely relate to those people who does so many volunteer services who said that even if they don't get much payment, they still have satisfaction as they've helped people. Also saying money is really not important than helping people. Even I had a completely full (similar to a completely full stomach) though i had not eaten and believe me I love to eat and would want to each any time so it was a very unexpected day for me.(:

I wish to serve more and give my all to the poor and ones in need. I really did completely enjoyed myself in every service I participated in. I have developed a Huge heart to serve now and I can't wait to participate in more and more services!(:

Febuary 19th, 2011!: The Salvation Army Flag Day!! WOOHOO(x

It was a blast! Though the wind was pretty rash and we had to wake up pretty early that day, but I really enjoyed selling the flags to help the ones in need and promoting the organization! I am very excited to do more volunteer services!(:

The Coastal Cleanup!(:

This is a picture of everyone who participated in the cleanup. ICS ROCKS!(:

This is a picture of me picking up some trash.(:

The Coastal Cleanup was overall a fun activity! Though afterwards we couldn't find a toilet to wash our hands thoroughly, except from that it was just enjoyable to be able to clean up a part of Hong Kong so we can have a better world! Make a change just by doing a little something like recycling or picking up trash from the floor (that might have bounced out from the trashbins:O) to make the world a good place to live!<3
